History of Caddo Fire District #3

1950 - Greenwood Volunteer Fire Department was organized

1984 - A full time chief was hired

1986 - Three paid firefighters were hired - 1 per shift

1988 - Central Fire Station was moved to its present location

1991 - Fire District #3 became the first fire district in Caddo Parish to provide emergency medical transport

1990's - Six additional firefighters were hired bringing the total to 3 per shift

1994 - Fire District #3 began providing Advanced Life Support 24 hours a day

1997 -  Three additional firefighters were hired bringing the total to 4 per shift

2004 - Initial deployment of electronic pre-fire planning system

2005 - Added 1 additional firefighter per shift

2005 - Update electronic pre-fire planning system to pinpoint all water sources in the district

2005 - Upgrade EMS billing software

2005 - New front line Class A pump placed in service
